Initiative for REC to modify Rules of procedure

BELGRADE, December 20th 2006.  -  Transparency Serbia sent today, preposition to Republic Electoral Commission for modifying rules of procedure, so that it could bring misdemeanour charges for violation of the Law on Financing of Political Parties, and to make reports on campaign financing accessible to public.

Current Rules of procedure contains provision that in the case of determining irregularity regarding to collecting and spending the funds in election campaign REC will only notify other competent organs for bringing misdemeanour procedure. However according to interpretation of Ministry of Justice it is determined that REC has jurisdiction over bringing misdemeanour procedures and therefore modification of the Rule of procedure is necessary in order to practice that right completely.
