Preposition of the Law on Agency for Fight Against Corruption

Transparency Serbia considers that establishing of, on the Law based, independent body for fight against corruption  represents one of the most important elements of implementation of the National Anticorruption Strategy, adopted on December 2005, and fulfilling one of the obligations from ratified Convention of UN for fight against corruption.

By proposing the Law on Agency for Fight Against Corruption, Government made one step towards realization of this obligations. However, considering announced elections, ruling parties’ readiness to carry out institutional reforms envisaged in draft will be measured by their willingness to enter the Law in procedure of adopting before dismissing the National Assembly, and Government and parties should come out about that as soon as possible.

If the National Assembly discusses this preposition, Transparency – Serbia will deliver prepositions of amendments to the Law to all deputies’ group, which would have for goal to enable the future Agency to perform supervision functions and to resolve conflict of interest in discharge of public officials more efficiently.
