Public statement:

Discontinuity of negotiation with EU and fight against corruption

Discontinuity of negotiation with EU, for which Transparency Serbia hopes that it is temporary, shouldn’t serve as an excuse for not fulfilling of already defined tasks for Serbia from Plan for realisation of European Partnership priorities. Among those tasks, whose implementation is anticipated mostly until the end of this year are: bringing the Action Plan for implementation of National Anticorruption Strategy  and establishing of the body that monitors its implementation, full implementation of the Law on Preventing Conflict of Interest, harmonization of domestic legislative with Convention of UN against Corruption, establishing of institution of Ombudsman, removing constraints for functioning Commissioner for Information’s service, mechanisms for carrying out of his decisions and punishing the violators of the Law on Free Access to Information.

Many of these tasks can be done in anticipated term and Transparency – Serbia marks that it should be done primarily because of our own interest, and in that way, once the EU negotiations continue, it will be easier to continue our way to integration.
