Short introduction into subjects of conference:
Implementation of Law on Financing of Political Parties in 2007.
Status in implementation of Law on Financing of Political Parties will be considered at the press conference firstly in the light of findings of Republic Election Commission on campaign financing at January parliamentary elections, uncertainty of further proceeding of REC and organs for misdemeanors by the report of REC about control. Transparency Serbia will present at the press conference its points of view on quality of conducted control.
Second issue on which will be discussed on this occasion regarding implementation of Law on Financing of Political Parties is submitting of regular annual reports on financing of political parties. These reports are submitted to Financial Committee of National Assembly once a year. At the conference will be presented answer that Transparency Serbia got from National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia when we asked for copies of party reports received this year.
International obligations on the matter of fight against corruption
Serbia has significant international obligations in the area of fight against corruption. Among those obligations are implementations of ratified international conventions, through adequate changes in domestic legislation and in practice of proceedings of state organs. Obligations that Serbia accepted in the procedure of getting closer to European Union, which are defined through document European Partnership and Action Plan for its implementation shouldn't be forgotten.
However, at this press conference main topic will be implementing of 25 concrete, mandatory recommendations of Group of States against Corruption, which Serbia got in summer 2006. Group of States Against Corruption (GRECO) is specialized mechanism of Council of Europe, organization where Serbia presides. Deadline for submitting reports on how is proceeded by this recommendations expires on December 31st 2007 .
