Investigate the suspicions in disposing with construction land

Transparency – Serbia emphasizes that one of the most damageable consequences of both proved and suspected corruption is discouraging investors ready to fairly bid for state contracts. Further consequence is decrease of competition, and only those ready to use illicit means to reach the agreement remain in the process. Due to fewer numbers of participants future competitions will also result in lesser income for budget. During last weeks, we faced with publicly stated suspicions, related to cases of privatization of enterprises that used attractive land and approving of changes of city plans. Central Government and capital's institutions were suspected for illegal or damaging use of public resources.

Consequences of such wrong doing are equally damageable, whether they are result of corruption or not. However, for achievement of public interest it is even more damageable that besides numerous media articles timely investigation fails. Transparency – Serbia considers that state could not be taken seriously if every publicly stated suspicion to corruption is not subject of priority investigation, and if each stated suspicion in rationality of disposing with public assets is not subjected to auditing. Declared readiness of state organs to fight corruption, won't be ensuring enough to citizens of Serbia , who should be encouraged to contribute to fight against corruption, nor to those that evaluate our progress in the process of EU integrations, nor to foreign investors that we would gladly see in our country.
