Press Statement:

Hidden donors of election campaign

 

Organization Transparency – Serbia wishes to turn public's attention to statement of former vice president of SRS given in TV show „Utisak nedelje“ about businessmen who financed part of the campaign of that party for May elections, and with that statement at the same time pointed out to situation that official reports on campaign financing directed to Republic Election Commission, weren't made in accordance with the law.

 

Namely, in that report donations of physical persons and legal entities weren't stated at all as source of party incomes, but only „property incomes“of political party. Besides from that, question is whether donations that former vice president of SRS mentions, were paid on a special account or whether certain expenses of the campaign donors paid directly which is opposite to the law?

 

Considering that Republic Election Commission, which is authorized to check accuracy of reports on election campaign financing, hasn't determined any violation this year, but also hasn't performed any check, it can be assumed that such misdemeanors could exist with other participants at the elections. Due to that neglecting of control obligations, public of Serbia is once again denied data on amount and sources of financing of political parties while work of parties in current Parliaments' calling came under suspicion of hidden financial centres' influence.
