International Anticorruption Day and Convention of UN against corruption

International convention of United Nations against corruption is signed on December 9th 2003. in Merida, Mexico, and UN declaired that date for International Anticorruption Day. Convention of UN against corruption was made by joint effort of 129 UN member countries, and Serbia is also signatory of this Convention. It is the first global legal obligatory instrument in this area which olakšava international cooperation, establishes new bases and control methods for corruption punishing as well as for confiscating of illegaly obtained property. Nineth December is the opportunity, no matter how the matter of corruption is actual, for reminding on how serious problem it represents for economic and moral development of society, as well as for democratic system of authority.

 

 

 

Global Corruption Barometer

Global Corruption Barometer is one of the most quality researches of corruption phenomenon which has for goal to examine not only how people see corruption in institutions, but also to explore how actual is citizens' experience with corruption (how many times people bribed public servants during this year). This research questions citizens' opinions on anticorruption practices of government, and what are the citizens' expectations in regards to development of situation in future.

Research was created by Gallup International and Transparency International. This year, research is conducted parallel in 62 states and territories from all continents. Results of research for Serbia will help us see in what level is corruption present in Serbia , which areas are affected most and what is our status in regards to neighbors and other countries in transition.
