Transparency Serbia presented the first results of the survey on Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance implementation
Transparency Serbia presented the results of the survey at the press conference “Challenges for Anticorruption Laws Enforcement”. The survey took place during December 2004 and January 2005 and was carried out through sending the Requests for free access to information. Description of the requests can be found here . According to the survey, less than 15% out of 151 institutions, which received the Requests for free access to information, replied to the requests in the form regulated by the Law. Only 5 institutions appointed one or several officials authorized for dealing with requests for free access to information, although the deadline for appointing these officials was 13 th of December 2004. Please find more about this issue in Power Point presentation of Transparency Serbia's Programme Director, Mr. Nemanja Nenadić, here (Serbian language version).
Prof. Dr Vladimir Goati, President of Transparency Serbia, spoke about the situation in Law on prevention of conflict of interest implementation after establishment of the Republican Board for Resolving Conflict of Interest issues. The greatest challenges in the work of the Board will be great expectations from the general public, many problems induced by the delay in Board establishment, as well as lack of necessary financial and other preconditions for effective work of the Board.
